BJP leaders are deliberately disrupting the Assembly proceedings and wasting precious time and public resources over unnecessary issues, Minister Laxman Savadi said in Vijayapura on Sunday.
It is the BJP that said that it will conduct a crop loss study before the Session. Its leaders went on talking about a drought impact study. They said that they will submit a report to the State government. But it is the same BJP that is wasting the time of the House now, the Cooperation Minister said.
He said that the continued disruption of the House is meaningless as there is no time for discussions on relevant issues.
“In the first week of the Session, they spent talking about one person. They are not behaving as a responsible Opposition party. BJP leaders, who only make accusations, do not seem to have the courage to speak. We have told them many times to present facts with relevant evidence. But they do not want to follow the sacred Parliamentary traditions. They only want to attack the Minister and defame him. The Lokayukta has already cleared B. Nagendra of the said charge. If the BJP leaders have any more information, they should present them properly. I pray that God gives them the wisdom to talk about relevant subjects like reduced rainfall and drought impact and the Union government’s assistance in calamity relief to the State,” he said.
“There are drought conditions prevailing in the State and surveys by the Agriculture, Horticulture and Revenue departments are under way. Once these departments submit their reports, the Chief Minister will discuss with Ministers concerned and officers and the Cabinet will decide on the issue of loan waiver. There has been a demand for cloud seeding for a long time and the Chief Minister will take the final decision,” he said.
“I have been in different parties in my 25 years of public life. But my politics has been secular. The Congress recognized me and gave me the responsibility of being the Cooperation Minister. I plan to strengthen the department. Though the Union government has created a Ministry for Cooperation, it has not introduced any special schemes or projects. We will work with the existing projects,” he said in response to a query.
