Cyberabad police commissioner M. Ramesh along with other senior officers from the police and members of the Society for Cyberabad Security Council at the anniversary programme.

The Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) marked its 20th anniversary on Sunday, commemorating two decades of collaboration between the Cyberabad Police, industry and the community on safety and security issues.

SCSC, which was formally established on August 23, 2006, held its anniversary programme at AVASA Hotel in HITEC City under the theme ‘Celebrating Two Decades of Trustworthy Partnership, Security & Growth’. The SCSC@20 logo was unveiled and a commemorative book, ‘Enabling Enterprise – 2 Decades of SCSC’, was launched.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh said the safety and security of IT professionals and the wider technology community remained an important priority for the police. He credited SCSC with supporting the police and strengthening the public-private partnership over the past two decades.

Recalling challenging periods, including the Telangana movement and the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Ramesh said close coordination between the police, industry and other stakeholders had helped address security, operational and community-related challenges. He said the partnership had evolved from responding to problems to developing proactive solutions to emerging challenges.

Former SCSC Secretary General Krishna Yedula recalled the organisation’s early days and said its formation followed discussions between the police and industry on creating a safe environment for the rapidly growing technology sector. Consultations on industry concerns and standard operating procedures eventually led to its formal establishment in 2006.

The anniversary programme featured four panel discussions on women’s and children’s safety, cybersecurity, road safety and community health.

The discussion on safer spaces for women, children and the next generation included Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner G. Srijana, Cyberabad Traffic DCP Sheshadrini Reddy, SCSC Joint Secretary for Children and Youth Safety Vanitha Datla and Tanuja Abburi of Lloyds Technology Centre.

A second panel examined cybercrime prevention, digital evidence and community resilience, with participants, including Deputy Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy Kalmeswar Shingenavar, Cyberabad DCP Kukatpally Riti Raj, SCSC Joint Secretary for Cyber Security Ragu Kannan and TCS Hyderabad Center Head Nageshwar Rao Challa.

The road safety panel discussed enforcement, driver education, infrastructure and technology. It included Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Sunpreet Singh, SCSC executive committee member Sharwan Kumar Gone, Topdriver Education founder Naresh Raghavan and automobile dealer Y. Suresh Reddy.

The final panel focused on preventive healthcare, fitness, nutrition and community action, with DCP Serilingampally Ch. Srinivas, SCSC Joint Secretary for Healthcare Chinnababu, Hyderabad Runners founder Rajesh Vetcha and Nutriful You founder Lahari Surapaneni.

DGP C.V. Anand, who earlier served as Cyberabad Commissioner, congratulated SCSC on completing 20 years. In a message, he said effective police-public engagement required the participation of citizens and private organisations.

DGP Anand recalled initiatives such as ‘She Shuttles’ for women’s safety and ‘Chaitanya’, which focused on students’ education and future. He said that during his tenure as Cyberabad Commissioner, he had worked to revitalise the council through discussions with public and private sector representatives and strengthen its role as a partner in public safety.

He congratulated the council, partner organisations and others associated with it over the years, and said he looked forward to the organisation undertaking more innovative initiatives for public safety.

The anniversary programme concluded with the felicitation of panelists and participants by Dr. Ramesh, followed by a vote of thanks by SCSC CEO Naved Alam Khan, who also hosted the programme.
