Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday called upon the youth to play a crucial role in building a “developed India” by 2047.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day ‘Viksit Bharat Young Political Leader Dialogue’, organised by the BJP Yuva Morcha in Vijayawada, Mr. Sawant advised young people entering politics not to work for positions but for resolving people’s problems. He urged young leaders to follow five principles — accessibility to people, accountability, inclusiveness, innovative thinking and nation first approach.

He said political leadership should not be measured by speeches delivered on platforms, but by the change brought about at the grassroots level and urged young people to gain experience in education, employment or business before entering politics.

Young representatives selected from various districts across the State participated in the programme.

BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav said that a developed India could be achieved only through a developed Andhra Pradesh and urged the State’s youth to play a key role in nation-building. He said the youth must take responsibility for achieving the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047 and called upon everyone to participate in the country’s development in the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’.

He said financial inclusion, infrastructure, self-reliant manufacturing, and social equality were crucial to achieving a developed India and explained the changes brought about by initiatives ranging from ‘Jan Dhan’ accounts to the digital economy, as well as the expansion of roads, railways, ports and airports and the growth of indigenous manufacturing capabilities.

Mr. Madhav urged the youth to take pride in India’s history, culture, traditions, languages, arts, and scientific and technological heritage. He also called upon them to learn about the sacrifices of freedom fighters and move forward in nation-building inspired by their ideals. He recalled his association with Mr. Sawant, with whom he said he had worked during his days in the Yuva Morcha, and congratulated him on his journey from beginning his career as an Ayurveda doctor to gradually rising in politics and becoming the Chief Minister of Goa.

BJP MP Raghunandan Rao advised the youth not to be carried away by emotions, but to think with a sense of responsibility.

Party MLA Sujana Chowdary stressed that technological knowledge was important for every young person. “Human intelligence is greater than everything else,” he said.

MLA Kamineni Srinivas said the youth were the backbone of the country and urged young people to lead value-based lives, regardless of the field they were in.

BJP Yuva Morcha State president Sunil Reddy, who presided over the programme, called upon every young person to participate in nation-building, beginning at the grassroots level.

BJYM activists Nagothu Harikrishna, Bethireddy Aditya, Ajesh Yadav, Aditya, Paidikondala Sindhu, Navya, Tejaswini, Narendra Varma, Naveen, Mohan Vamsi, Vinod and others participated in the programme.
