A 40-year-old man was killed in a road accident after the two-wheeler he was riding was hit by a private van at Padiyanallur village near Sholinghur town in Ranipet on Sunday.
Police said the deceased has been identified as G. Duraisamy, an agricultural worker. He is survived by his wife and two children. Initial inquiry revealed that Duraisamy was returning to his house near Sholinghur town when the unidentified driver of the van lost control of the vehicle and hit the two-wheeler. The van was proceeding towards Sholighur town.
Police said that in the impact, Duraisamy was thrown off the vehicle and was badly injured. Immediately, other motorists and passersby admitted him to Government Taluk Hospital in Sholighur town, where doctors said that he was brought dead. They also alerted Sholighur Town police, who inspected the spot.
