Six people were booked by the Guntur police on charges of threatening a 73-year-old man and his family members with dire consequences, following a dispute over a ₹65 lakh investment in Amaravati American Institute of Medical Sciences Private Limited (AAIMS).
Acting on a complaint lodged by Patibandla Narayana Swamy of Vijayapuri Colony, a case was registered at Pattabhipuram police station on August 22.
According to police, Mr. Narayana Swamy and his wife invested ₹65 lakh in AAIMS on July 19, 2018, through bank cheques. He alleged that the investment was made based on representations that the promoters had established AAIMS along with the associated entity Nava Med Ventures LLC, with an assurance of making his son P. Mohan Rao as a partener.
The complainant said that his son Mr. Mohan Rao was subsequently appointed as a director of AAIMS in December 2020 and an authorised signatory in February 2026.
However, despite repeated requests, shares corresponding to the investment were not allotted. In response to a legal notice, the accused allegedly claimed that the ₹65 lakh was a loan and not an investment.
The complainant further alleged that Mr. Mohan Rao’s authorised signatory powers were removed and his proposed removal from the board was communicated in August. When questioned, the accused allegedly threatened the complainant and his family.
Police registered the case under Sections 316(2), 318(4), 351(2) read with 3(5). The allegations are under investigation, said Sub-Inspector of Police K. Nagendra.
