Yuzvendra Chahal has added his own twist to one of cricket’s latest viral celebrations after recreating Delhi women’s cricketer Medhavi Bidhuri’s now-famous ‘6-7’ gesture during Northamptonshire’s County Championship clash against Lancashire at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Playing for Northamptonshire, Chahal produced the celebration after dismissing Lancashire batter Joe Moores. The veteran leg-spinner came around the wicket before beating Moores and crashing into the stumps, setting off the celebration that has recently taken social media by storm.

Chahal’s performance also played a key role in Northamptonshire’s emphatic result. He finished with match figures of 18.4-5-39-3 as Northants completed a commanding 316-run victory over Lancashire. The result also marked Northamptonshire’s first win at Old Trafford since 1999.

The ‘6-7’ gesture, however, was already familiar to cricket fans thanks to Bidhuri, whose celebration became one of the early viral moments of the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026.

Bidhuri, a right-arm leg-spinner from Delhi, produced the celebration after dismissing South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh during Central Delhi Queens’ tournament opener on August 20. Nishika was caught by Arushi Goel at mid-wicket in the 16th over, after which Bidhuri raised and lowered both hands in the distinctive gesture.

She finished the game with figures of 2/24 from four overs, although Central Delhi Queens went down by 29 runs. What made the moment even more eye-catching was the number on her back: 67.

Bidhuri had initially wanted to wear jersey No. 12, but the number was already taken. Her younger sister then suggested No. 67, allowing the leg-spinner to connect the jersey number with the viral ‘6-7’ trend.

“This ‘six-seven’ thing is trending a bit, and my younger sister, who’s like a brother to me, told me to wear jersey number 67 and keep this as my celebration,” Bidhuri said after the match.

The celebration has since continued to follow her. On August 23, Bidhuri again performed the gesture after dismissing East Delhi Riders batter Vanshika Lila. She returned figures of 4-0-26-1, although the Queens suffered another defeat, this time by 19 runs.

Now, with Chahal joining the trend in County Championship cricket, Bidhuri’s quirky celebration has travelled from Delhi’s domestic circuit to one of England’s biggest cricket stages. For a trend that began as a social-media phenomenon, seeing an international cricketer reproduce it after taking a wicket underlines just how quickly the ‘6-7’ craze has crossed sporting boundaries.
