Pradeep Bhandari on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, calling the party’s governance model a “flop show" and alleging that Punjab has suffered under its rule.

In a post on X, Bhandari said the AAP model had “failed Delhi" and claimed that Punjab was now witnessing the consequences of what he described as the party’s “disastrous governance".

“Since AAP came to power, Punjab’s per-capita income growth has lagged Haryana!" Bhandari wrote, contrasting the economic performance of the two neighbouring states. He said that despite both being agrarian economies, Haryana had witnessed a “significant jump" in per-capita income, while Punjab continued to struggle.

Bhandari further accused Kejriwal and the AAP of “looting Punjab" and said the state needed a political change.

“Punjab needs CHANGE! Punjab needs DEVELOPMENT," he wrote, ending his post with a direct attack on the ruling party: “Punjab needs to get rid of AAP-da!"

His remarks come amid a series of recent public statements by Kejriwal in which the AAP leader has attacked the BJP-led government on issues ranging from education and alleged political violence to the Centre’s ethanol policy.

On August 21, Kejriwal had condemned what he described as an alleged attack by BJP workers on Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) volunteers in Rajasthan’s Jaipur.

He alleged that the volunteers were assaulted, their clothes torn and their vehicles damaged.

“What problem does the BJP have if children become educated?" Kejriwal asked in his post on X.

The remarks followed a confrontation in Rampura Kanwarpura in Jaipur district, where a CJP delegation had reportedly gone to inspect a government school.

A day earlier, on August 20, Kejriwal had criticised the Centre over ethanol production from sugarcane, alleging that the policy had contributed to a shortage of sugar.

He said the government had sought to save foreign exchange spent on oil imports by producing ethanol from sugarcane, but could now end up spending that foreign exchange on importing sugar.

Kejriwal also described the government as “entirely run by illiterates" while attacking its handling of the issue. His criticism was part of AAP’s broader campaign against the E20 fuel policy.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, as cited in the ANI report, has maintained that E20 has undergone extensive testing and validation and that real-world vehicle mileage depends on several factors, including driving habits, traffic, maintenance, tyre pressure and air-conditioning use.
