Three minor sisters, including a nine-month-old infant, died under suspicious circumstances in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, prompting authorities to exhume their bodies for post-mortem examinations.

Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths, while it remains unclear whether the food the girls consumed was linked to the tragedy.

Three Sisters Die In Chhatarpur Village

The incident was reported from Pipora Khurd village under the Isanagar police station area. The victims have been identified as seven-year-old Poonam, three-year-old Manisha and nine-month-old Chahat, all daughters of Balmukund Kushwaha.

According to preliminary information, the three girls had eaten baingan bharta and roti for dinner the previous night. They later died under circumstances that have raised questions, but officials have not established any connection between the meal and their deaths.

Family Buried Bodies Without Informing Police

The matter came to light after authorities learnt that the family had buried the bodies without informing the police or arranging post-mortem examinations.

Following the information, local police and medical officials reached the village and inspected the burial site. Authorities subsequently decided to exhume the bodies so that post-mortem examinations could be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Medical, Forensic Teams Begin Investigation

Chhatarpur Chief Medical and Health Officer RP Gupta said he immediately reached the village after receiving information about the incident.

Gupta said police, revenue officials and forensic science laboratory teams were also informed and called to the spot. Teams are now collecting information and examining the circumstances that preceded the deaths.

The bodies will be exhumed for post-mortem, and medical and forensic reports are expected to help establish the actual cause of death.

Officials Question Family, Examine Sequence Of Events

Authorities are questioning family members and trying to establish what happened after the girls reportedly fell ill. Forensic experts have also been called to assist with evidence collection.

Officials have not yet confirmed whether the baingan bharta and roti consumed by the sisters had any role in their deaths. The exact circumstances remain unclear and are expected to be established after the post-mortem and forensic examinations.

Police said further action would be taken after the medical and forensic reports are received.
