A 35-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death on a busy main road near Madiwala in Bengaluru on Saturday night.

The deceased, identified as Suhail, was a resident of Mangammanapalya and worked at a medical shop.

According to the information, Suhail was travelling on his bike from Madiwala towards Koramangala at around 10 pm. He had stopped amid traffic when four men allegedly arrived on two bikes and attacked him.

The assailants reportedly used two swords to attack Suhail, killing him in the middle of the road.

Police suspect the murder may be linked to enmity involving Suhail’s brother.

Suhail’s brother had reportedly been arrested in connection with the murder of rowdy-sheeter Shabbir on January 13. His brothers Khaleem, Nazir and another brother were also allegedly involved in the case.

Khaleem remains in jail, while Nazir was released on bail around a month ago. Police suspect Suhail may have been targeted over the alleged enmity against his brother.

Suhail himself had no criminal cases against him, according to the information.

After learning about his brother’s murder, Nazir reportedly rushed to the spot and expressed anger over the killing. He said Suhail was not only his brother but was like a father to him, and vowed not to spare those responsible.

Madiwala police are investigating the murder and have formed three special teams to trace the suspects.

Joint Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, DCP Mohammed Sujitha and CCB DCP Haribabu visited the crime scene.
