A software developer has shared why she chose to resign from three jobs without having another offer lined up, saying each decision eventually led to a new role within about a month.

In a series of Instagram videos posted on her account, @found.ora, the techie described the career decisions as both empowering and stressful. While she managed to find another job relatively quickly each time, she said the period immediately after resigning was often filled with uncertainty and self-doubt.

Her experience has sparked discussion online about whether professionals should wait for another offer before quitting or, in some circumstances, take the risk of stepping away first.

The professional said she deliberately chose to resign before beginning her job search, rather than waiting until she had another position confirmed.

“Yes, I did resign without an offer letter, not once, not twice, but thrice. And that was something really interesting which I did for myself. I trusted myself, I put down my paper, and then started searching for the job, which I was able to crack in maybe a month, every time. And I joined the next company as soon as my notice was over in my previous company. So, this was like a really good journey which helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses,” she said.

She clarified in the accompanying caption that she did not make those decisions because she already knew what would happen next.

“I resigned three times without having another offer. Not because I had everything figured out, not because I knew what would happen next, but because sometimes, you need to give yourself a chance before you have all the answers,” she wrote.

According to her, choosing uncertainty was difficult, but the experience helped her understand her career priorities and what she wanted from her professional life.

While resigning may have felt like a decisive step, she said the days that followed were considerably more difficult.

“Nobody talks about this part that comes next. A few days after I resigned, I started questioning everything. Did I make the right decision? What if I don't find something? Will I regret this? I have resigned three times without any offer letter. And honestly, every single time, it has scared me,” she said.

She also admitted that she sometimes compared her decisions with those of people who secured new jobs before resigning from their existing positions.

However, she said her motivation was not necessarily to move immediately to a better opportunity.

“But somewhere within that uncertainty, I realised something. I wasn't leaving because I had a better opportunity waiting. I was leaving because I needed to create space for myself to figure out what I actually wanted to do,” she added.

In another caption, she reflected on the fear that accompanied those choices.

“Being scared didn't necessarily mean I was making the wrong decision. Sometimes, it just meant the decision mattered to me.”

Her posts received responses from users who said they could relate to the uncertainty of leaving a job without another offer.

One user cautioned against taking the same approach in every situation, writing, “Not recommended for higher experience candidate or managerial role.”

Another praised her confidence, commenting, “that’s the confidence life needs,” while a third user shared a similar experience.

“I have resigned three times too but this time im feeling very difficult to go through this,” the user wrote.
