“You have shown courage in a new sector. The most important thing is that you placed your trust in the government. My view has always been that whatever decisions we make, we must remain consistent. We shouldn’t keep changing them constantly; that way, anyone willing to take a risk can feel assured—knowing that if something goes wrong due to their own error, that’s one thing, but no one will abandon them. That is the trust we are striving to build," PM Modi said.
‘Attract Talent Like A Magnet’: PM Modi To Indian Space Sector Startups
The Prime Minister also called for creating an environment that attracts global talent to India, saying the country could become a preferred destination for people seeking careers in space technology.
“…I believe we should create an aura where people from all over the world feel that if they want to build a life in this field, they should come to India—join an Indian startup or the Indian space agency. I am convinced that we can attract this entire talent pool like a magnet, and it can become a tremendous strength for us…We are highly cost-competitive. There is no question regarding the quality of talent, and since the people of our country naturally possess a high capacity for risk-taking, we can rapidly carve out a niche for ourselves," he said.

“Met India’s brightest space StartUps. As always, came away impressed by their energy and ambition. You would love their insights and optimism. Do tell me…what excites you most about India’s space journey?," PM Modi tweeted.
India aims to attract global talent to its space sector by creating an environment that makes the country a preferred destination for careers in space technology. Prime Minister Modi believes India's cost competitiveness, skilled talent pool, and risk-taking ability can help achieve this.
Policy consistency is important for encouraging entrepreneurs to invest in the capital-intensive space sector. The Indian Space Policy 2023 has opened the sector to private players, allowing non-government entities to build, own, and operate space assets. Additionally, the government allowed 100% foreign direct investment in the space sector in February 2024 and created a dedicated venture capital fund of Rs1,000 crore in October 2024.
India could become a global hub for space technology by attracting international talent and creating an environment where people worldwide want to pursue careers in its space sector. The country's space economy is projected to grow significantly, with policy reforms opening the sector to private players and fostering innovation.
